In the month of self-love, I want to spend a little bit of time sharing some art I’ve been doing recently, and reflecting on how I view creating as an act of self-love.

I’ve discussed in the past some of the approaches I take to art, especially with my abstract inky landscapes.
It might not be immediately obvious, but I think that engaging in creating these pieces is very relaxing for me. I really enjoy having no set image in mind when I’m creating, as it removes and restriction on me. I like watching the ink flow around the page; I enjoy playing with and building up colours. I like incorporating different mediums and seeing how inks, oils, and paints work with each other.
In the past, I’ve also discussed concepts around art and why whether you’re good or not shouldn’t be a factor in your creation.
I find immense joy in creating. I find it liberating to process emotions on the page through the use of colour and movement. It feels like a radical act of self-care, of loving myself, to paint without concern as to whether I’m creating anything good.
If my posts help inspire you, I’d love you to share that with others! You can support my work by sharing, commenting, or giving small monetary contributions via Ko-Fi if you feel so inclined – it’s always very much appreciated.
