As we quickly work our way through the month of self-love, I wanted to take some time to explore my favourite rituals for showing love to yourself.
This post is a lovely complement to the post on ingredients for self-love rituals I made previously – it’s chock full of easy-to-find ingredients that will make engaging in witchcraft accessible and easy.
Today, we’re going to explore some different rituals you could use to utilise these ingredients and support your self-love journey.
Magical Herbal Tea for Self-Care
I find having a cup of herbal tea to be a lovely moment for engaging in self-care. It’s not quite the same if I’m rushing that cup of tea before leaving the house to run errands, but setting aside 15 minutes to mindful enjoy my tea is one of my favourite ways to bring a small period of mindfulness to my day.
You can make a cup of tea with anything, too! There are a plethora of edible ingredients that you can steep in hot water to make a delicious tea, and most of the herbs, spices, and flowers you might use in tea have different symbolic properties. I enjoy thinking about the flavours that will complement each other, as well as their symbolic meaning as I add them to my tea strainer.
As my tea steeps, I think about what I want to do for the day, or how I’m feeling. Anything at all – really. It’s like meditation in a cup!
Mindful Simmer Pot Rituals for Self-Love
Much like a cup of tea, simmer pots are a collection of ingredients that are placed in hot water. You can use fresh or dry ingredients, add them to a pot of simmering water, and stir whilst placing your intentions.
Instead of ingesting the concoction, though, you can stir with your intentions being verbalised. It’s traditional to stir clockwise to invite and anti-clockwise to block. The fragrance of the simmering herbs and spices then fill your home.

Whilst there’s nothing stopping you from creating your own with the ingredients you have to hand, sometimes it’s easier to buy pre-prepared spell kits for yourself. DIY Spell Jars for Self-Love
I absolutely adore spell jars. I think they’re incredibly adorable, and really fun to make.
You can use and jar you have to hand, pack it full of symbolic ingredients and intentions written on a scroll, then seal with wax.

They look lovely on an altar, can be turned into jewellery or keyrings, or just popped in your pocket.
Taking time to intentionally choose your ingredients is a nice and cathartic process. It provides a lovely moment for reflection, and you get an adorable little trinket to add to your collection.

Relaxing Ritual Baths for Self-Care and Self-Love
Very similar to all of the other options I have here, ritual baths involve using herbs and spices for magic. In this case, though, you mix them with oils or salts and place them in your bath.
Adding them to a hot bath releases lovely fragrance, and you’re essentially bathing in a giant bathtub potion!
Although it’s very aesthetically pleasing to use loose ingredients, they can cause a lot of cleanup in the aftermath – making them a bit less relaxing. I’d recommend utilising a muslin back packed with your chosen ingredients to use in the bath instead – basically a giant teabag for your bath!
