March is the month of awakening on the blog!
For the first creative post of the month, I wanted to share some writing prompts to get you thinking about how to wake yourself up with the seasons and to start taking manageable steps for yourself.

1. List 5 Tasks You Need to Do – And Why You Haven’t Done Them Yet.
These don’t need to be big tasks – they can be small chores. Really think about what it is that’s stopping you from getting them done.
Doing this can help you understand what is holding you back from reaching your potential and what inhibits your motivation, which should help you unpack how you’re going to tackle it in the future.
2. Create a Mind Map for the word ‘Awakening’.
Explore what the term “awakening” means to you by writing down the things it makes you think of. You could consider:
- What part of you you want to awaken.
- What feelings the term evokes.
- Synonyms for “awakening”.
3. Describe a time when you felt inspired by something you did.
Recognising how you’ve inspired yourself can help you renew your drive for life. It might help you understand more about what motivates you and reveal something to you about your subconscious.
If you’re not sure on how to start responding to this prompt, try considering:
- What happened.
- Who you were with.
- The exact emotions you felt.
- The physical sensations in your body.
4. When was the last time you felt truly alive?
For me, “awakening” evokes connotations of feeling alive again, which is what inspired this question. Think about the last time you felt truly alive – where you truly felt that you were living life.
To break down this prompt further, you may want to consider using these questions:
- What were you doing?
- Who were you with?
- How did it make you feel alive?
- Why do you think it invigorated you so much?
5. Who was the last person who believed in you?
Sometimes, we can be our own worst enemy. We can get in our own heads.
Think about someone who believed in you before. Reminding yourself of this can help you stay on track with what you want to achieve – knowing that someone else has believed in you can keep you going even when your goals are difficult.
Consider the following questions to help you develop your response:
- Who were they?
- What did they say or do to show their belief in you?
- Was their encouragement received during a difficult time?
- How did it make you feel to hear they believed in you?

I hope you find these starting prompts useful in your journey of awakening! I have taken them as an excerpt for my ’31 Days of Awakening’ workbook, now available as a digital download over on Etsy.

If you’re comfortable sharing your answers, I’d love to hear the things you like about yourself in the comments.
