As we continue on with the month of inspiration, I wanted to talk a little about my own sources of inspiration. Where it seems to be leading me, how it informs the work I’m trying to do, and the impact I’m trying to make.
I’m trying to be a little more personal in some of my posts at the minute – to show a little bit more about myself as I hold space more frequently online and become more assured in the work I’m doing.
I started The Opaque Elephant during a time when I was craving a slower, more meaningful life. I’ve spent a lot of time on the blog exploring my career choices and my personal values. I wanted to establish something that supported reconnecting with myself, with nature, and with a sense of wonder, and in spreading that motivation and inspiration to other people.
At first, I’ll be honest — I felt self-conscious about sharing what I was creating. You know that voice that whispers: “You’ve gone a little too woo — people will think you’ve lost the plot?” It was definitely there for months. I stayed mostly faceless on social media, quietly posting photography, little handmade things, and writing my musings on the blog, hoping that someone out there might understand the need for something slower, something more intentional.
But the more I leaned into this work — posting art, photography, reflections, and resources — the more I realised that this is exactly what I believe in:
Making space to explore your inner world. Being curious. Letting yourself be inspired. Connecting with others, yourself, and nature.
Hiding those parts of myself wasn’t helping anyone, least of all me. And slowly but surely, I’ve seen that the people who are drawn to this space are the ones who understand the same longing.
Why Inspiration Isn’t About Waiting for Lightning to Strike
When we think about inspiration, we often imagine it as this magical, fleeting moment – lightning in a bottle. But real inspiration doesn’t always work that way. More often, it comes from creating space to notice the world around you. Whether it’s the way the light filters through your kitchen window or the texture of tree bark on your daily walk, inspiration is woven into ordinary moments. The magic in the mundane – something I’ve tried to explore often in my photography.
That belief has shaped everything I create through The Opaque Elephant. The photographs I share, the workbooks I make, the writing prompts and tarot spreads I share on the blog, to the workshops I’ve designed. I want to help people slow down and give themselves permission to look closer, to reconnect with the wonder we so often forget in busy adult life.
Workshops for Curious and Creative Souls
With my background as a qualified English teacher and years spent helping people develop their ideas in a supportive space, I knew I didn’t want to offer typical, rigid courses. The world doesn’t need another lecture — it needs room to explore without judgement, without pressure, and without perfectionism.
I desperately miss being in a classroom a lot of the time. I miss sharing, supporting, and inspiring. These workshops have been in development for some time, and I’m finally ready to share them with the world. I want to combine the things I’m passionate about to support other people in living a life full of creativity and connection. It’s what I’ve been trying to do with the free resources on the blog, with the products I create for my Etsy store, with the posts I make on social media.
The workshops I’ve created are designed to be gentle, supportive, and meaningful. Each one is built around the belief that personal growth and creative habits start small, and that inspiration can be found in both structured ideas and free-flowing curiosity.
Here’s a little of what I’m offering this season:
Tarot for Self-Reflection
A four-week journey into using tarot as a mirror, not a crystal ball. Learn how to create your own spreads, explore your thoughts through journaling, and tap into intuitive self-knowledge in a non-judgmental, supportive space.
Journalling for Abundance
Reconnect with the your understanding of the word ‘abundance’ – what it means, what it could look like, and how to achieve it. Blending educational theory, mindfulness practice, and manifestation, this course is made for changing the way you think.
Lessons from Nature: Finding Magic in the Mundane
Shift your perspective and find the sacred in the everyday. This workshop will guide you through creative exercises and reflections designed to help you notice the beauty hiding in plain sight whilst building beautiful descriptions for celebrating the lessons we’re provided from little moments in nature.
The Hero’s Journey: Writing Your Own Myth
A creative self-exploration inspired by myth, storytelling, and classic literature. You’ll map out your own personal journey and see your life through a new, empowering lens.
Community and Connection Matter
I also believe that we grow best together, not in isolation. Each course I offer includes a private community space where you can share insights, support each other, and feel seen and heard.
I’m not trying to sell perfection or instant enlightenment. I want to offer small, soulful ways to help you reconnect with yourself, your creativity, and your curiosity.
If you’ve every read my blog and felt inspired, but not really sure where to start, these courses are a perfect introduction to all the facets of reflection and celebration I explore on my blog.
If You’ve Been Longing for Something More…
If this resonates with you — if you’ve felt the pull toward living a slower, more inspired life but haven’t known where to start — I’d love to invite you to join me in one of my upcoming workshops.
Whether you’re drawn to tarot, nature, storytelling, or simply the idea of nurturing your inner world, you’ll find a space that welcomes you exactly as you are.
Ready to take the plunge? Explore the courses, starting in May, over on Eventbrite. If you have any questions about the courses, please feel free to reach out to me here on via social media to find out more.
And if you’re not quite ready for a workshop, I hope you’ll still find inspiration in the blog, the photos I share, or the little resources I’m putting out into the world.
