As the month of April draws to a close, I’ve been thinking a lot about the power of inspiration and looking at how to carry it forward into May.

Over this past month, we’ve reflected on quite a few different sources of inspiration together and learnt about being flexible. We’ve considered how community can play a part in our inspirations, and I’ve briefly mentioned some of the courses I’ll be offering starting in May.

I wanted to round out the month of April by discussing some of the courses I’ve developed, but also talking more generally about the mission I’ve set upon through The Opaque Elephant and how it has grown, adapted, and developed over the past few months.

What is inspiration?

I think inspiration can come from many sources; it’s one of the things I tried to encourage readers to explore through the writing prompts released at the start of the month and the 31 Days of Inspiration workbook.

The thing about inspiration is that it doesn’t always come easily; sometimes, it needs a little bit of space, practice, and tools to tap into. That’s why I chose it for the theme of this month. As with anything, the greater our toolbox is, the easier tasks become and the easier our life can be.

When I started The Opaque Elephant, I really just wanted to live my life more meaningfully. I started with a blog sharing some wellness tips and exploring some of the challenges I was facing. It then became something else, where I created physical products. Now, it seems I’m coming full circle and returning to my teaching roots.

I think it would be easy for someone to look at the transformation this space has undergone and to consider it as something rather chaotic; perhaps directionless. But the driving force for me has been constant inspiration – new ideas that are related to the work I always set out to do, but new directions as I roll with the inspiration that exists at every turn.

I don’t think changing direction speaks against your integrity or ideas – rather, it speaks to your ability to be resilient and adaptable.

The latest change has been focusing on developing community spaces. Although my original ideas haven’t come to fruition for a number of reasons, I’ve worked tirelessly to create something I really believe in.

Courses and Workshops for Inspiration, Reflection & Personal Growth

I’ve developed four workshops & a women’s circle that I’ll be hosting online that are designed to guide participants to deeper reflection, creative expression, and personal growth.

I don’t believe in quick fixes or magic pills. I do, however, believe in sustainable tools that can assist in creating meaningful change in your life. I believe in reconnecting humans and nature, people and creativity, and empowering people to make changes in their lives.

These beliefs have always been central to the work I’ve done. They were the driving beliefs behind my decision to become a teacher – and ultimately in my decision to step away from the traditional classroom. I now want to bring that energy and expertise to those seeking fulfilment, alignment or growth in a hobbyist environment.

If you’re ready to take the next step on your journey, I’d love to invite you to explore these offerings. Here’s a quick overview of the courses and workshops that are designed to spark that inspiration within you and help you take action in your own life.

Women’s Sharing Circles

A sharing circle is a supportive, non-judgemental space where people come together to share their thoughts, experiences, and feelings in a guided, respectful environment. Typically held in small groups, sharing circles are built on the values of active listening, confidentiality, and mutual respect.

Here’s what you can typically expect:

  • A warm welcome and an introduction to the circle’s theme or focus.
  • Clear guidelines around respect, confidentiality, and non-judgement.
  • An opportunity to listen deeply to others’ experiences.
  • An invitation to share your own thoughts if you wish (but it’s always okay to simply listen).
  • Gentle facilitation to ensure everyone has space and time.
  • A sense of connection, belonging, and often, relief from being able to share authentically.

Most people leave a sharing circle feeling lighter, more grounded, and more connected – both to themselves and to others.

As I believe in the power of ongoing community, you’ll also be invited to join an exclusive Facebook group for participants to facilitate ongoing community between sessions.

Why Choose These Courses?

What sets these courses apart from some others you may see in wellness circles is the commitment to genuine, long-term growth. These aren’t about quick fixes or empty promises – they are about helping you find your own way to connect with yourself, your creativity, and the world around you.

I don’t believe in giving answers or magical solutions; I don’t believe in over-promising unrealistic results. I do, however, believe in providing people with an array of tools that empower them to make meaningful change in their lives. I believe in guiding people and supporting people on personal journeys. I believe in the power of slowing down, reflecting, appreciating, and pouring that into creative activities to improve wellbeing.

I know that diving into personal work can sometimes feel overwhelming, but the beauty of each course is that you’re not alone. You’ll have a supportive community of like-minded individuals on the same journey, which will continue growing as these courses do. You’ll have continued access to the community as it expands beyond the end of your course: join now, and you’ll be a pioneer in a movement of committed personal development and creative exploration.
