Continuing on with the month of inspiration, I wanted to write up a short post about taking inspiration from nature.

It’s certainly the right time for it – and the fact that nature is coming back to life again was a huge part in my decision to focus on this theme during the month of April.

I’ve touched on the joy of nature at this time of year in previous posts, so I’ll not spend too long on that today. You may remember from earlier this week, though, that I went on a guided walk to my local woodland. There, I was greeted with an array of wildflowers and plants I had always noticed in years gone by, but had never been able to identify.

As noted in the post earlier this week, I went for this walk with an experienced guide, and he had a lot to tell us about the flora in the area.

One flower in particular stood out to me: the lesser celandine.

There’s something particularly joyous about the bright spots of yellow popping up in the undergrowth. And I’m not the only one to think so. When considering the language of flowers, lesser celandines mean “joys to come”.

It makes sense: as one of the first flowers of spring, the lesser celandine is an excellent source of food for pollinators. They’re hardy plants; their leaves are vaguely reminiscent of hearts. There’s something so loving and entrancing about them. I can see why we’d associate them with better things coming.

That’s what I tried to capture in this image. The buds and blooms haven’t quite opened up yet. To me, the combination of flowers in various states of bloom seemed to signal that good things are happening and more are on their way.

It inspires me to keep trudging along, knowing that hard work will eventually pay off. Brighter days are here – and more are coming!

I adore looking for magical moments and spiritual lessons in nature – as shown by this lesser celandine composition from my walk. It’s something I try to showcase in the photography prints I have for sale. If any of this resonated with you, why not check out some of the prints I have available on Etsy and Ko-Fi? They’re much higher quality resolution than the examples on the blog, of course!

I’m always working on adding new prints to the collection, and all of them feature reflective lessons from nature.

What have the plants and signs of spring been telling you so far this April?
